Divisionism • Neo-Impressionism: Arcadia & Anarchy

Arcadia and Anarchy refers to the two most prominent directions in the art that followed Impressionism in Italy and France. Idyllic landscapes were a central theme along with depictions of the problems of society, but an even stronger characteristic of this cultural epoch in the two countries was the interest in reproducing light and color.

The late nineteenth century defined this period of work and the font, Mrs Eaves, outlined page borders, sepia-toned extracted text and more, speak to this period. Yet, the generous leading and clean white space, as well as the square trim size of the book, keeps the historical references fresh, clean and easy to absorb.
