From Picasso to Pollock: Classics of Modern Art
Produced to accompany an exhibition presented at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation in 2003. Since the exhibition was a historical soup-to-nuts, the catalogue was organized in two sections—an A-to-Z by artist bios, followed by the artworks in the same order. The format is slightly narrower than is usual for easy referencing back and forth. A strong color theme and the strategic use of white space provide a clean counterpoint to the work that makes familiar material feel fresh and dynamic. The Introduction was written by @lisadennison. This catalogue became the design template for companion exhibitions following a similar theme: From Renoir to Warhol: Masterpieces from the Guggenheim Collection(Japan) and A Century of Painting: From Renoir to Rothko(Guggenheim Hermitage, Las Vegas).
