Dallas Museum of Art

Duchamp, Cornell, Johns & Rauschenberg

Dialogues: Duchamp, Cornell, Johns & Rauschenberg

Produced in conjunction with an exhibition presented at the Dallas Museum of Art. Duchamp’s La Boite Verte, the centerpiece of the exhibition, provided the inspiration for the concept and palette of the book. One of Duchamp’s witty and trenchant “retrospectives in a box,” La Boite Verte utilized layered and translucent images, including various kinds of film, mylar, and the like. The design of the book incorporates some of these elements, in initial letters, image bleeds and writing over writing, and mylar pages, as well as the cover design and translucent slipcase.

Published by the Dallas Museum of Art and Yale University Press, 2005, 112 pages, 25.4 × 20.32 cm

ISBN: 0-300-10929-1

2006 Winner of a Gold Citation Wilder Award, Texas Associations of Museums
